The fees structure for MBBS differs from one medical college to another. Private medical colleges charge higher fees for medical in comparison to government colleges. For instance, AIIMS is one of the most prestigious government medical colleges and its fees structure is very nominal. For a local candidate the fee per semester is merely Rs. 330 to study in AIIMS while an outstation candidate pays just Rs. 970 per annum. All the expenses are covered by the government of India and hence, you just need have to bother about any education expense. The amount also covers registration fees, hostel fees, mess charges. However, private institute have entirely different tale, to study medical from a private institute you need to pay an average fee of Rs. 1 lakh per semester excluding your hostel and examination fees, which are also payable. That is why medical students prefer government colleges over private medical colleges.
