Civil Engineering has always been a popular career choice among students for years and is a much demanded career in the market. These civil engineers design and execute structural works. . They are responsible for the construction and designing of a wide variety of public works around the country such as dams, bridges, airports, flyovers, roads, highways, commercial building and many more. These constructions may vary in size, scope and nature but civil engineering is directly related with creating and protecting the environment where we live.

To become a civil engineer, you are required to have B. Tech or BE degree in civil engineering from a reputed institute of India. Your marks in Physics, chemistry, Mathematics are also taken into consideration for the admission.  For selection, you need to appear for the entrance exam after passing out senior secondary exam. The other personal skills that a civil engineer should posses are analytical and practical bend of mind. It is also important for a civil engineer to have a good technical knowledge of computers so that he can use design and word processing software efficiently.

In most of the occasion there is an entire team of civil engineers, hence, it is important to work in co-ordination and harmony. Civil engineers can find job as a supervisor in a construction site or teaching job in government institutes, and many lucrative managerial positions.

Civil engineers are required in many big construction projects of highway, roads, dams etc. These projects are often carried out by the government of state or central, public and private construction companies, military and consultancy services etc.
