It is an international, vendor – neutral certification that proves a technician’s competency in managing, maintaining, troubleshooting, installing and configuring basic network infrastructure. The certification is the sign of a competent networking professional and it is used to measure skill as a network technician, understanding of network hardware, installation and troubleshooting. It was launched in 1999 and followed by exam updates in 2002, 2005 and 2009. Since its inception in 1999, more than 235,000 people have been Comp TIA Network+ certified. In early 2009 the newest version of Comp TIA Network+ was launched.

It is recommended that Comp TIA Network+ candidates should have at-least nine months of experience in network support or administration or academic training with a Comp TIA A+ certification. Comp TIA Network+ is considered as a requirement for the entry level IT employment in the areas of networks. The program signifies that the candidates are able to perform tasks like installation, configuration and troubleshooting of common networking systems. It is to noted here that a combination of A+/ Network+, A+/Server+ or only security+ certification can fulfill the requirement for the Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certification.
